As Basil and Percy’s friendship develops further, the two form a close bond and sense of trust in each other. One day, Percy asks Basil why he used to spend to so much time alone in the forest before they met.
Basil confides that, after his parents left him, he found it difficult to open up to people in case they too might leave. With youth and optimism on his side, the young Percy explains to Basil that having friends who care is almost like having a family.
Basil and Percy have been rambling through the forest for hours when they suddenly realise their horribly lost. They stumble upon an old sign post but neither is clear which direction to take. Basil suggests Percy fly into the sky to try and see where they are but Percy returns saying he can’t quite ascertain where they are. The two work together, trying to retrace their steps and which way they should go. With a little guesswork and Percy’s overhead view, they select the right pathway.
