SYNOPSIS

Basil & Percy – the unlikeliest of friends

Basil and Percy is a children’s novel aimed at the 5-7 year old age demographic. The story is set in a lush forest teeming with other animals and outlines the unlikely friendship formed between a small, inquisitive pigeon (Percy) and a grumpy old badger (Basil).

LIFE LESSONS

A tale of learning from each other

In the beginning, Basil has little interaction with any other creatures in the forest. However, as they slowly become friends, Basil and Percy form a deep and meaningful bond. Through their various adventures, they soon learn they’re not that different after all.

OLD & YOUNG UNITE

Respecting both young & old

Perhaps the most intriguing element of the relationship is how much Basil comes to learn from the more youthful and optimistic pigeon – while Percy also learns valuable lessons from his older counterpart, the grumpy badger.

A TOOL FOR LEARNING

We’re all different yet the same

A key aspect of Basil & Percy is that it’s ok to be different but still realise we share similarities. By reading about Basil & Percy’s adventures together, children learn that friendships often form between people and species that are different from each other.

THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP

A home is nothing without friends

As Basil & Percy spend more time together, they realise they’re far more similar then they could have possibly imagined and are both united by the power of the lush green forest where they live.
